Allianz Lanka Contributes on Behalf of Customers for Every Motor and TravelPolicy Purchased to Support Sri Lanka’s biodiversity in partnership with WNPSPLANT Initiative.

In a pioneering and powerful move which augers well for Sri Lanka for the future, Allianz
Insurance Lanka Limited announced its partnership with the Wildlife and Nature Protection
Society of Sri Lanka (WNPS) to support the Preserving Land and Nature (PLANT) initiative, a
science-based conservation program dedicated to building forest corridors, restoring Sri Lanka’s
endangered ecosystems, promoting biodiversity, and enhancing climate resilience.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Allianz Lanka’s ongoing commitment to
sustainable insurance and corporate responsibility. The initiative reflects the company’s belief
that meaningful change begins with collective action, and that we must all play a part in
preserving the planet we call home, because we only have 1 Earth.

Through this partnership, for every Motor and Travel Insurance policy sold from 30th October
2025 onwards, on behalf of its customers, Allianz Lanka will contribute funds towards
reforestation, habitat restoration, awareness and biodiversity conservation projects across Sri
Lanka. The initiative is a local expression of Allianz Group’s global Environmental, Social, and
Governance (ESG) strategy, which focuses on achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, reducing
internal emissions by 70 percent by 2025 compared to 2019 levels, promoting sustainable
insurance solutions, and investing in climate-resilient and socially responsible projects.

The PLANT initiative, a flagship project of WNPS, the oldest and most active conservation
organization in Sri Lanka, focuses on forest corridor creation, habitat restoration, and the
protection of key biodiversity hotspots, mainly within the endemic-rich southwestern parts of
the country. PLANT has work ongoing in 33 locations, is home to over 1250 species including
over 125 Endangered and Critically Endangered and has begun creating over 25 kilometers of
forest corridors already. Among its leading projects are the Budunwela Reforestation Project,
which protects and restores 24 acres of partially degraded land vital for elephant, leopard and
other species migration, and the creation of forest corridors spanning over 20 kilometers within
the hill country estates, to improve habitat connectivity and reduce human-wildlife conflict.

Speaking on the partnership, Prashant Grover, Chief Executive Officer and Country Manager of
Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited, said:
“At Allianz, we believe that protecting what matters most goes far beyond insurance, it’s about
safeguarding our planet and the future we all share. Every step we take is driven by our
commitment to create lasting value for our customers, our communities, and the world around
us. Through our partnership with WNPS and the PLANT initiative, we are taking meaningful
action to restore Sri Lanka’s natural ecosystems and preserve its biodiversity for generations to
come. We are proud to lead this cause because we have only 1 Earth and protecting it is
another way of protecting those who matter most to us.”

Sharing his thoughts on the collaboration, Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne, Chairperson of the
PLANT initiative at WNPS, commented,
“ WNPS PLANT embodies a progressive, science-led approach to restoring Sri Lanka’s natural
ecosystems and protecting our endemic species. Collaborations such as this with Allianz Lanka
underscore the vital role responsible corporates play in driving large-scale conservation efforts.
Integrating Conservation into the core of business is the most powerful way in which customer
communities become extended guardians of our natural ecosystems. Allianz has made
thousands of customers become stakeholders on this journey at no extra cost to the customer,
and we are deeply indebted to the Allianz team for their vision. Together, we are investing in the
long-term sustainability of our environment, safeguarding biodiversity, revitalizing ecosystems,
and strengthening resilience for both people and wildlife.”

The Allianz Lanka team led by CEO and Country Manager Prashant Grover, Chief Distribution
Office Ranga Dias and Head of Market Management Kasun Yatawara handed over a symbolic
plant to the WNPS and PLANT representatives Jehan CanagaRetna and Sriyan de Silva
Wijeyeratne, amidst a gathering of the two teams and the media. Work on some of the funded
corridor creation in the hill country will commence in November.

Extending his gratitude to Allianz Lanka, WNPS Past President Jehan CanagaRetna said “Allianz
Lanka is showcasing just how strongly corporates can bridge the gap between conservation and
citizen communities through their interventions. WNPS has always had a long-term orientation
to conservation in Sri Lanka. By sacrificing some short-term profits, the company is providing a
platform for conservation initiatives to become long-term oriented and is moving corporate
actions from ad-hoc projects to long term impactful measures. Allianz is also supporting the
iconic WNPS Loris publication and enabling hundreds of insightful conservation stories to be
shared across the world as living examples of why we need to do better”.

Through this partnership, Allianz Lanka reaffirms its commitment to advancing environmental
stewardship and sustainable development, while inspiring its customers to take part in
protecting the planet, because to Allianz, and to all of us, there is only 1 Earth.
